Introduction
THE BARCELONA INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY FOUNDATION (henceforth ‘BIST’), owner of the website www.bist.eu (henceforth the ‘Website’), with registered office at C/ Comte d’ Urgell 187, Recinte Escola Industrial, Building 12A (BIST), 08036 Barcelona, and with CIF (Fiscal Registration Number) G-66483207, assigned number 2921 in the Generalitat de Catalunya’s Register of Foundations, guarantees and protects the privacy and confidentiality of the personal data of the users of its Website (henceforth the ‘Users’), in accordance with Law 15/1999, 13th December, for the Protection of Personal Data (henceforth ‘LOPD’) and its implementing regulations.
BIST informs users that the collection of personal data directly from Users will be processed in a confidential manner and placed in the relevant files under the responsibility of BIST for the purposes set out in the General Data Protection Register; they will not be used for any purpose incompatible with these.
BIST informs users that (i) its files have been duly placed in the Data Protection Register and (ii) it is governed by the regulations concerning data protection currently in force in Spain, to which any person who accesses the Website is subject, irrespective of that person’s nationality.
Collection of personal data
BIST, in accordance with the provisions of Article 5 of LOPD, collects personal information on the User:
- When he or she contacts us online by sending any kind of communication or consultation.
- When he or she participates in surveys or communications from BIST, regardless of the means of communication.
- By means of automatic information collection procedures (cookies), subject to the provisos contained in the Cookies Policy.
- By means of forms or the subscription to activities in which BIST is a participant.
In this way, BIST will be responsible for the data requested through the abovementioned means.
Purposes of data processing
The data that BIST requests from you are those relevant, appropriate and necessary for the purposes they are collected for. BIST, always in accordance with the terms for which the User has given his or her consent, insofar as this is mandatory and in compliance with the regulations concerning electronic commercial communication, may use the information provided by the User for the following purposes: the management, provision, expansion and improvement of the services requested by the Users, the fulfilment of their requests, responding to their consultations and/or institutional communications, keeping them informed of developments, innovations, news and activities implemented by BIST, managing the sending of information and documentation that we consider to be of interest to them, contributing to the improvement of our services through communications, surveys or requests directed at the Users, and contacting you when the fulfilment of any of the purposes referred to earlier requires this.
The User will be responsible at all times for the veracity and/or ownership of the data provided and will be solely responsible for any damage caused to BIST or any third party in the event of having supplied false, inaccurate or incomplete data, or submitting data belonging to a third party.
BIST states that your personal data will be placed in the appropriate files for which BIST is responsible, for the purposes established in the General Data Protection Register; they will not be used for any purpose incompatible with these. The data collected may be transferred in the cases provided for each file in this Register.
Consent for data processing
At the moment that you, as a User of the Website, use its services or those managed by the Website, you are accepting in full the conditions that are laid down in this policy, which is placed at your disposal and for your understanding.
By accessing the Website or using its services, the User consents and expressly and unequivocally authorizes the placing of any personal data he or she provides, or which is generated as part of his or her participation with BIST, in a database which BIST owns and has responsibility for, and for the personal data to be processed in accordance with the purposes established in this Privacy Policy.
The registration of minors under 14 years old may only be carried out with the express authorization of parents or guardians. Registering as a User implies that you have obtained this authorization. BIST reserves the right to request at any time an accredited copy of this authorization.
Information about browsing

The Website may use browser and system surveys and/or tracking devices to collect information in order to establish the general trends of the Users and to improve browsing.

Modification of this privacy policy
This privacy policy has been approved by BIST. BIST reserves the right to modify its privacy policy in the future in accordance with its criteria or as a result of any legislative or legal change. If any modification takes place, the new policy will be published on this Website, each case being therefore governed by the policy in force at the time the website is accessed.
